NOTESOne of the most commonly used functions in Excel is the ‘IF’ function.
Its usefulness and application are quite broad due to its simplicity. It is a logical function that basically allows the user to specify results based on whether or not a specific criteria is met. The result hinges upon either a true or false outcome of a logical test. Think of it in terms of ‘if this is true, then that – otherwise (if ‘this’ is false) something else’. An IF function is a function that checks whether a condition is met, returns one value if True and another value if False. The way we write the IF function in Excel is described below:
To test whether conditions are true or false, we use logical operators. Examples of logical operators include: < less than > greater than = equal to <= less than or equal to >= greater than or equal to <> not equal to |
